Mechanical Shop Game

The mechanical shop game is an idea I have for a future shop-based video game after realizing that there hasn’t been a shop game like Recettear since the early 2000s. Since a lot of developers go for the “cozy” shop simulator route, I decided to go in the complete opposite direction. My idea is a hectic dungeon crawler in which the shop itself acts as the adventurer. I did this to remedy an issue in other games in which the dungeon and the economy are seperated, as now actions in the dungeon directly impacts selling power.

Splatoon Hand Drawn Concepts

I started to work on designing Splatoon instruments on paper before moving on to digital art. Even if none of these ideas have jumped over to digital yet, the ideas in my hand drawn collection were each designed around a certain gimmick, which made each ink flinging instrument unique in their own right and unlike a lot of the very generic and samey concepts for instruments seen in other suggestions throughout the Splatoon community (and even in the game itself, as a lot of weapons can be very similar in function). Two of my concepts included a paint katana that could fly through the air, and a minigun-like showerhead.

Landmarked Concept

Most worlds in minecraft will be unique, but not special. What I mean by this is that due to Minecraft’s random generation, worlds generated by the game will be random, but not special since every world shares the same features. My Landmark concept is designed to address this issue and give each world its own unique set of landmarks that players can discover and name themselves. This not only gives a better reason to explore, but it can also ameliorate worldbuilding with visual landmarks as points of interest like a theme park.
